Glock 19 Mos Red Dot - I Carry: Glock G19 Gen5 MOS Pistol with Red Dot Holosun Sight Today on I Carry we have a Glock G19 Gen5 MOS Pistol with Red Dot Holosun Sight.
We examine the Glock G19 Gen5 MOS pistol for several reasons. First, it is definitely one of the most popular concealed carry pistols, and the fifth generation offers the best looking compact Glock. With advanced straps, interchangeable backstraps, smooth edges, and an updated trigger, the Gen5 is an ergonomic version of Glock's midsize 9mm pistol.

The size of the G19 puts it in the middle of the pistol pack, so to speak. It's large enough to provide a full three-finger grip, and beyond the 15-round capacity, there's plenty of room for a support hand, while doing so in a size that's still fully concealed. It has an overall length of 7.3 inches, a barrel length of 4 inches and an unloaded weight of 23.8 ounces. There is a reason that handguns for the concealed carry market are very similar in size.

One of the main reasons to visit the Glock G19 Gen5 MOS is the market. There's no denying that Glock is one of the heaviest hitters in the holster community—for example, it's hard to find a holster maker that doesn't match the G19. When it comes to upgraded parts, Glock is right up there with the 1911, AR-15, and 10/22. We previously covered the Radian Weapons RamJet adapter tube and the Afterburner microcompensator, and today we have two new additions.
The first is the Striker control unit, which replaces the sliding pad. First introduced by the Tau Development Group and now by Langdon Tactical, the Striker Control Device, or SCD, is a simple mechanical device designed for added safety. When reclosing, simply place the power switch thumb on the SCD. This is it. If something gets into the trigger guard, the SCD moves under your finger, alerting you to the problem. It's the same as placing your thumb on the back of a revolver hammer or a DA/SA semi-auto hammer.
The second part is required for the selected red dot. C&H Precision Weapons offers plates for many modular optic systems, including the Glock MOS.
We used Mission First Tactical's Ambidextrous / IWB / OWB accessory to carry a Glock G19 equipped with aftermarket parts and red sights. As the name suggests, this holster can be used by both right- and left-handed shooters inside or outside the belt simply by changing the position of the polymer belt clip. When the holster is worn inside the waistband, it can rotate 15 degrees and switch between accessories with a straight or IWB holster.
Glock G17 And G19 Gen4 Mos Are Game Changers
Single sheet kydex construction, screw adjustable mounting, generous optic cutout and open mouth design mean the Mission First Tactical Ambidextrous Appendix/IWB/OWB holster covers a lot of space for the concealed carry specialist. If you're looking for a case that can multitask, this is definitely worth considering.
The HE507K X2 Holosun Sight is designed for dual micro 9mm pistols, but that doesn't mean it's not a good choice for the Glock G19. The C&H plate makes it easy to mount on a compact pistol like the G19, which has a significant advantage: the HE507K X2 doesn't bulge the Glock slide like standard slide-mounted red dots do. This means less chance of the optic getting caught in clothes, belts, etc. on impact and very little loss in the viewing window.
The Holosun HE507K X2 offers a 2 MOA dot with a 32 MOA scope and can be rotated in any of three combinations (dot only, circle only, circle and dot). The lock mode allows you to lock the light switches and prevent accidental changes in the LED level, while the alarm function activates the spot with any movement. Ten day and 2 night vision settings are available, while a single CR1632 battery can power the HE507K X2 for up to 50,000 hours.
Ballistics tests include internal ballistics, external ballistics, and terminal ballistics. There are many assumptions associated with each field of study. Some are myths, some are like old wives' tales, and others are just born of ignorance.

Ken Blaidel completes 15-year quest to earn marksmanship badge at age 75 | NRA Shooting Sports Journal As the CHPWS states, "...OEM mounting plates are the weakest link in the Red Dot system." That's why they offer the V4 and V4 Defender Glock red dot mounting plates. Both plates increase the strength of the Glock 19 MOS mounting system by solving two specific problems: mounting hardware and optical/lens protection. If you're looking for a way to upgrade your existing MOS disc, check these out.
The V4 features proprietary replaceable stainless steel T-nuts and stainless steel Torx head screws. This is so that if someone tightens the threads, they can replace the nuts and bolts and not the plate itself. This is a great option compared to other mounting plates currently in production.
The red dot holder of the V4 Defender differs from other scopes due to the protective window above the optics. Instead of the usual metal mounting plates, the V4 Defender is made of impact-resistant polymer.
It's a very interesting concept and I'm looking forward to using it and seeing how it works with my regular rigs. The purpose of window guards is to protect the optic font from the impact of the shooter's hand while cycling the slide, from spent casings during direct fire, and even from objects rotating the slide during wounded firing exercises.
Gun Review: Glock G19 Gen4 Mos & G17 Gen4 Mos
Another advantage of the CHPWS system is that it provides a deeper thread between the bolts and the T-posts. With this trainer you get stronger optics!
Installing the V4 and V4 Defender on the Glock MOS is similar to using the Glock 19 MOS plates.
The first thing is to take the T posts and place them on the bottom of each plate. There are two T columns per plate. After installing them, insert the plate into the milled hole in the slide where the Glock MOS plate would normally go. After placing the plate on the slide, secure the plate to the slide using the silver screws. Be sure to use the included screws and Vibra-Tite.
After attaching the plate to the slide, place the optic on top of the slide in the space between the slide and the mounting plate. Attach the optic to the plate using two black screws. Each set of bolts requires the correct torque setting specified in the manual.

After I finished installing the optic, I let the gun sit overnight to install the Vibra-Tite and properly connect the three pieces.

As I wait at home to get to the range, I start the zeroing process with an iron sight. To do this, I look through the optics and adjust the optical dot to the height sights of the muffler. This moves the point closer to the desired zero. I want to make sure it doesn't get close to zero!
It's just a starting point that allows me to waste less ammo while getting to zero. To get the correct zero, you have to shoot, adjust, shoot, adjust, shoot, adjust, shoot the special firearm. Hopefully you won't have to do the above to zero. You just need to hit the target, in the desired area, at the desired distance.

The first time I went into the field, I zeroed two RDS guns, each using a CHPWS plate. I want to start the reset process closer to the 3-yard line. I shoot 1-3 rounds from a neutral position. Closely, I aim for every nail to make an impact.
When I'm satisfied with the results, I move to the 10-yard line, repeat, the 25-yard line, and repeat. At the 25 yard line, it sometimes helps to use a fulcrum to get a more accurate zero! I do the zero process at the 25 yard line. I use an NRA Bullseye Repair Center slow fire target for zeroing. I, like many others, find this to be the most accurate target for this type of shooting.
After using the CHPWS V4 and V4 safeties for a little over 6 months, I feel there are many positives over the Glock 19 MOS plates in the Glock pistol.
As a friend of mine who has broken Glock plates in the past, I like the T-post replacement and the ability to screw it in instead of the full plate. With this option, there is no need to replace the expensive part
